Easy Canvas Art – 3D Flowers that Look Amazing

If you’ve been looking for a way to spruce up your walls without breaking the bank, this easy canvas art is the way to go.

I love having a colorful home and changing the decor often. But because I am also very frugal I have to come up with new ways of decorating in color without breaking the bank. This easy canvas art is the perfect way to add color to any room for right around $5.00. You can add any flowers to match the look you’re going for. I chose sunflowers because I really liked the contrasting look it gave with the black & white vase I painted.

With a canvas, some acrylic paint, hot glue and some flowers from the dollar store, you can whip up your own easy canvas art. Get ready to wow your friends and family when they find out you made this!

Here’s what you will need:

  • A blank canvas
  • Acrylic paint
  • Synthetic flowers
  • Hot glue
  • Exacto knife or razor blade
  • Glitter – optional

With the acrylic paint, outline the shape of your desired vase. I didn’t want mine to be perfectly symmetrical or too smooth.

Let your vase painting dry completely.

Slice-canvas-art

Once your vase is dry, use your blade to cut a slit in the top of your vase to create a space to tuck the stem of your flowers behind the canvas.

Begin arranging your flowers just like you would a bouquet in a real vase. The flowers near the bottom need to go into the slit to give the flowers more of a 3D effect.

Secure them to the back of the canvas using hot glue. You could always use a piece of fabric to cover the back if you want, but it will be up against the way so I didn’t bother.

Remove remaining flowers from their wired stems and glue them around the top of the canvas to give your bouquet more height and definition. Add a few leaves to fill in some blank or missing spaces.

Once dry, your canvas is complete! I used a wreath hanger and hung this sunflower canvas on the from door. You could always add twine or something else to create more of a hanging picture.
