Easter eggs may be full of treats, but so is the sweet and charming Mazda 6 Sedan.
Regardless if you’re a believer, church-goer, or spiritual person, Easter is a time to be spent with family. Like most holidays, Easter isn’t really all that fun as an adult, as we don’t get to run around a home or backyard looking for plastic eggs filled with candies, toys, or even cash. Nope, we get to do the filling, the hiding, and later on — the cleaning.
Not this time, my friends! We chose to have a rather unorthodox Easter Sunday, and focused on maximizing our time as a family, and worrying less about what this traditional holiday usually brings. For starters, we opted for streaming our local church’s service, instead of doing the typical Sunday morning routine of waking up late, rushing to get ready, and blitzing our way to church. Well, it’s not always like that… I promise.
After enjoying breakfast in front of the TV, we were more than ready to take advantage of our Easter chariot — the 2017 Mazda 6. Despite having driven the entire lineup of awesome Mazda vehicles, the 6 had managed to slip through the cracks. Not anymore! We had the family together, a full tank of gas, and the entire day to have fun.
Once on the road, we decided to head out of town and enjoy nature. After all, most folks would probably leaving their places of worship and heading to the nearest Red Lobster. We thought this was the perfect opportunity to deal with smaller crowds, and we drove out to the country. The Mazda 6’s spacious and refined interior proved to be the perfect accommodations for our short trip, and everyone seemed to have a smile on their faces. A miracle?
Despite most of the population trading up to crossovers and SUVs, sedans still remain an excellent way for families to get around town. Furthermore, a sleek and well balanced four-door like the 6 is much more fun to drive than any SUV out there. And yes, Mazda does make some fun and zippy little crossovers. Nonetheless, we wouldn’t have traded our 6 for anything else while negotiating the turns and twists near Columbus, Indiana.
The 184-horsepower, 2.5L, 4-cylinder Skyactiv engine may not offer killer acceleration, but once it gets going it’s plenty fast and extremely responsive. Of course, this isn’t just because of the engine, but because of the overall vehicle dynamics that Mazda always instills in their machinery. Any other time we would’ve chosen the sweet Mazda MX-5, but for this Easter Sunday drive, the 6 in Grand Touring trim was excellent!
Once we arrived to our destination, the girls spent most of the afternoon petting and handling horses, finding eggs (yes, we still couldn’t escape them!), and having a great time overall. Of course, we were briefly in the hunt for gorgeous scenery, or anything that could photograph well with the charming sedan. In the end, it was the very horses, Easter eggs, and even Josephine’s candy-filled Easter basket that seemed to fit the overall theme.
In some ways, our Easter Sunday was planned out, but in others, it was quite spontaneous. All we know is that the Mazda 6 was worth the wait. Not only does it offer plenty of usable technology like a navigation system, a kick-butt Bose sound system with 11 speakers, and an awesome heads-up display to help keep your eyes on the road, but it does so without breaking the bank.
And that, is enough reason to praise the 2017 Mazda 6!
