Check out the All-New 2018 Honda Odyssey

The history of the modern minivan is long and rollercoaster-like. When it first came out in the ’80s, it was designed to carry a large family in relative comfort. Later that decade a few luxuries were added in order to appeal to a new clientele. Fast forward to the early 2000s and minivans were all the rage, but only one of them stood out as modern and family-friendly. The Honda Odyssey.

Ever since then, the minivan has been an afterthought. With the rise of the SUV, and eventually the crossover, minivans were wiped off buyer’s radars. Then Chrysler rejuvenated the market with their new Pacifica, and Toyota is still selling a healthy amount of their outdated Sienna. So what about Honda?

Behold the all-new 2018 Honda Odyssey. Just unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the Odyssey is ready to redefine the segment all over again. With a powerful 280 horsepower engine, an available 10 speed transmission, and brand new family-centric features, it’s ready to take on the competition!

New features include:

  • CabinWatch. Using a camera, CabinWatch lets the driver and front passenger keep tabs on passengers both day and night via the 8-inch Display Audio screen.
  • CabinTalk. Enables the driver to talk to second – and third-row passengers though the second-and third-row speakers and rear entertainment system headphones.
  • CabinControl. Using a downloadable app, users can use a smart phone to control the rear entertainment system, rear cabin heat and air conditioning, and send destinations to the embedded Honda navigation system.
  • Magic Slide seats. Second row seat that easily reconfigures for optimal passenger comfort. Seats can slide to adjust to people and cargo necessities on-the-fly.

“This new Odyssey raises the stakes for family-friendly packaging, performance and technology in the minivan segment.” Said John Mendel, Executive Vice President of American Honda Motor Co. “In all aspects of its design, the new Odyssey is made to keep every member of the family happy, no matter the seating position, no matter the destination.”

Honda isn’t giving up on minivans, and we absolutely love all the new features! Modern families are quite demanding, and it seems like they’ve delivered. We can’t wait to get behind the wheel the 2018 Honda Odyssey some time soon!
