Super cool poster, but how is a Koenigsegg driving on the Hudson?
Missi and I have been fortunate enough to witness most new car debuts year to date at the Detroit, Chicago and very soon the New York auto show. So when I told her I planned to write a piece on the upcoming unveilings in New York, I couldn’t help but laugh at her honest response: “Geez, how many new cars come out every year?” My response was somewhat smart and filled with facts and statistics. But she is totally right, for someone that doesn’t live and breathe the auto industry, it can be mind-blowing just how many facelifts and all-new models roll off the assembly lines every year.
The NYIAS, or New York International Auto Show, plays a big role for for the manufacturers as the NYC market generates big numbers in auto sales every year. Even high end or exotic manufacturers such as Lamborghini, McLaren, etc. display vehicles that never make it to Detroit or Chicago. And while McLarens are cool and all, I’m asking Ford to PLEASE bring the Focus RS!
Here are some of the names that are stealing the limelight at the 2015 NYIAS.
All-new Kia Optima
Having made its original debut at the 2015 NYIAS back in 2010, Kia is ready to turn some heads once again this year with their all-new Kia Optima midsize sedan. The current Kia Optima has been Kia’s best-selling sedan in the U.S for three years running, and has catapulted Kia past Honda to be named America’s best value brand in the U.S according to KBB.com
So far so good Kia, can’t to to see how much of this sketch makes it to production.
2016 Nissan Maxima
Nissan will unveil their next-generation Maxima at the 2015 NYIAS, although it was briefly featured on the superb “With Dad” Super Bowl commercial. This all-new Maxima is poised to to set the direction of Nissan’s styling and sport oriented vehicles for the future.
Everything about the Maxima screams sports-sedan, except its lack of RWD.
2016 Chevrolet Spark
The Spark is Chevy’s global superstar having sold more than 1.1 million units worldwide. Therefore the Spark is very fitting of it’s double world debut. That’s right, the sleeker and more sophisticated Spark will be simultaneously unveiled in Seul and New York on April 2nd.
The new Spark will without a doubt be another sales 0ver-achiever for Chevrolet.
All-new Lexus RX
The 4th generation RX is set to make its global debut at the 2015 NYIAS on the morning of April 1st. The Lexus RX not only defined the midsize luxury SUV segment when it launched 17 years ago, but it has also dominated segment vehicles sales since then.
I can’t quite make out what the new RX looks like, maybe the April 1st debut is just an April fools’ joke.
2016 Jaguar XF
While the actual unveiling will happen in London on March 24th during a “Dramatic High-Wire Drive” stunt. The rest of the details along with the car will be present at the 2015 NYIAS. The Jaguar XF was first launched in 2007 and is Jaguar’s biggest selling and most awarded car. If only Jaguar would bring their diesel engines stateside…
At least we know the upcoming Jaguar XF looks like a car. Great sneak preview.
