Active Accessory – LEAF by BellaBeat
I’ve always been super involved within the fitness world, some months more than others. I love finding the latest and greatest techniques, foods, and accessories. That’s why when I saw the LEAF by BellaBeat, I knew I just had to have it. The LEAF is a pretty fitness tracker, that tracks your steps, activities, sleep cycle, reproductive cycle, and breathing. You wear the LEAF on your clothes – or as a necklace or bracelet, and it learns from you – it gets smarter the more you wear it.
I wore the Fitbit Charge HR for a long time, and it was super fun but it didn’t go with all of my outfits and looked super bulky on my wrist. This is why I absolutely loved the look of the LEAF. It’s pretty and simple, and looks like any other piece of jewelry, so people will never know that you actually have on a Fitness tracker. You have the option to clip it on your clothes, wear it as a necklace, or on the bracelet – it’s so versatile! Just today I was heading into class to finish up my finals, and I had on a pair of jeans and a black shirt. I wanted to keep everything simple because I was going to be testing all day. I clipped the leaf to the neck of my shirt and it looked so pretty! It was just what my outfit needed to add an extra sparkle. You can get the brown wood/rose gold color, or the light wood/silver color like I have. They are both beautiful and will make the perfect addition to any outfit.
The LEAF tracks your steps and you can log your activities in the app to see how many calories you’ve burned for the day. I love that it lets me personalize my own goals, and sends cute little messages to tell me how great I’m doing! It automatically logs your steps and tracks your breathing, but you can choose from all of their activities to log once you’re done working out. I have logged Yoga, Weight Lifting, and Dancing! Some other activities you can log (that I think are pretty freakin’ awesome) are: Playing with kids, Shopping, Shoveling snow, Cooking, and Dog walking, as well as your basic running, elliptical, cycling, and more.
LEAF offers a few different types of alarms to help you out in your day to day life. If you’re lazy, like me, you can set the LEAF to vibrate when certain amounts of time pass by and you haven’t gotten of your booty. Or, you can use it to wake yourself up in the morning, or remind yourself to take a pill.
Tracking Sleep/Reproductive Cycle:
The LEAF tracks your sleep when you wear it at night. It doesn’t bother me because I clip it onto my shirt or pants when I’m ready to go to sleep, and I can’t even feel it. It tells you how long you’ve slept, and even shows you a graph of when you’re in light sleep, deep sleep, or waking up. It also logs your period and reproductive cycle and predicts when you’ll get your next period and be in your fertile window.
This is something I haven’t ever had a lot of experience with. There are different breathing exercises you can do with your LEAF and app. It helps you relax and relieve stress. There is even a breathing exercise for menstrual cramps, which I love. I’ve never been one for breathing exercises because I get bored easily and my mind wanders off, but I thought I would try it out after my yoga session this morning. I felt so relaxed and peaceful, I didn’t even want to get off my mat and thought I might fall asleep there! I’m definitely going to be incorporating these exercises into my daily life, especially before bed!
If you’re looking for fitness trackers, this one would be great for you – whether you’re a beginner or intermediate, the LEAF learns and adjusts to your fitness lifestyle, and offers encouragement and motivation for you to continue, without weighing you down or looking bulky or random like other fitness trackers. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for LEAF and their app in the future.
