Your cats will absolutely adore kitty condo! The best part is, it’s easy for you to make.
Don’t allow your cats to settle for a plain and boring cardboard box. Take your kitty condo to the next level with some scrapbook paper, scissors, glue and a few other miscellaneous supplies I’m sure you can find laying around the house. Your cats will love having a pad of their own and building this kitty condo out of cardboard will help you save some major cash.
Not too long ago we adopted the sweetest little kitty from a local shelter. She didn’t have any hair from the waist down, and to many, that would have been a bad sign. But for us, it was love at first sight. The girls named her Chloe and she instantly stole our hearts. With a little bit of proper care and some major TLC, Chloe’s hair has almost completely grown back. Thank goodness!
Since Chloe was our first family kitty, we wanted nothing but the best for her. That included one of those fancy cat climbers wrapped in carpet with tunnels and whatnot. The only issue was, Chloe was less than interested. She only cared about the cardboard boxes we had sitting by the door after an online order shipped. That’s when a lightbulb went off.
I made this her a super chic cardboard kitty condo!
I grabbed a few boxes at my local Meijer store when I stopped there to grab Chloe some Meow Mix® Simple Servings™. Chicken & Turkey flavor seem to be her favorite, but they have at least six flavors to choose from. I love these because there’s single serving in every cup. We can give Chloe the wet food she craves, minus the portioning and leftovers. All you have to do is open and serve—it’s that simple. You can actually see the pieces of poultry in a savory sauce or gravy.

Time to make your cat a kitty condo!
Here’s what you will need
- Clean & empty cardboard boxes (I used 2)
- Paint
- Scrapbook paper
- Glue
- Hot glue
- Accessories to decorate (optional)
First, paint your boxes white. Or any other color that you prefer. Once your boxes have fully dried, it’s time to get to work. I had this piece of scrapbook paper that looks sorta like wood so I used it for “flooring” by gluing it to the top of my bottom box. While that dries, paint the inside of your upper box the desired color of choice.
Next, hot glue your second box on top of the first. I did cut an arch out of the front of the box, as well as the sides, so that my kitty could climb in and out of the box with ease. Choose a design that will best fit your cat. Let the glue dry completely.
Let the glue dry completely.
Using a deep red scrapbook paper, cut rectangle shapes simulating bricks. Glue around the bottom box creating the foundation of your kitty condo.
Once your paint and glue have dried you can begin to design your kitty condo with cute little accessories that are safe for your cat. I added a nameplate to the top, a little tree I had leftover from a fairy garden I once made and a patch of fake grass.
Now your cardboard kitty condo is complete! I told you it was super easy to pull off.
Chloe has a bit of the whole “Grumpy Cat” thing going on, but we are trying to get her to a good place. She sorta had a rough life before coming to our home, so we are doing everything we can to change her mind about life.
We know we will get here there! Special little details like feeding her Simple Servings, making her chic kitty condos and loving her unconditionally has us on the fast track to making her heart happy again.
