Need some creamy comfort in your life? I just made this recipe last night and I am in love! Not only is it easy, but it’s so delicious. I added a little bit of bacon on top only because bacon tastes good on virtually everything. I think this recipe would be great in the crock-pot as well. That might be what I try next. The best thing about this recipe, is you can make it ahead of time. Melty cheese, sauce-soaked pasta — just try to resist.
1 lb. Macaroni
1/4 cup Butter
1/4 cup Flour
4 cups Milk
1 tsp Ground Mustard
4 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Salt & Pepper to taste
Cook the pasta according to package directions. While the pasta is cooking, melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and continue whisking until smooth. About 2 minutes or so. Add the milk to the flour mixture while whisking constantly. Add in your ground mustard for flavor. Continue to cook and whisk until thickened. Sprinkle in the cheese about a handful at a time. Keep whisking to combine the mixture. Continue until all cheese has been added and smoothed. Add the macaroni to the cheese sauce. Stir until well blended. Add this cheesy deliciousness into an oven-safe dish. Serve immediately, or refrigerate until ready to eat. To reheat, place in a preheated oven at 350 F and bake for around 15 minutes. Or until warm and bubbly. Enjoy!
i have a recipe that’s very similar. I add about 1 tsp nutmeg to the sauce. Great flavor!
Ohh… that sounds delicious!
