DIY Kid’s Hot Chocolate Toppings Bar

As a parent, a seemingly menial achievement can often feel like an epic win. There is no manual or a “one size fits all” how-to book on parenting. We are all sort of just winging this thing called life together. One of the easiest things I have learned from being a parent is that kids love choices. Let them choose if they want the green plate to the orange. No they don’t want their ranch to touch their nuggets, how dare you think that would be ok!

I try to think of different activities that I can do with my kids that allows them to make choices on their own. This is really beneficial to their personal development. Since the cooler weather is setting in here in Indy, I figured a kid’s hot chocolate toppings bar was exactly what we needed!

Setting up a hot chocolate bar is super easy to do. Here’s what you will need:

  • Your favorite hot chocolate
  • Toppings of choice
  • Containers for the toppings
  • Dixie® To Go Cups (complete with lids to help prevent spills)

I took the girls to the sore to pick out 3 of their favorite toppings. They ended up going with coconut, marshmallows, and peanut butter with chocolate chips. Delicious!

I prepared the hot chocolate according to the directions and poured even amounts into each Dixie® To Go Cup and gave them each one. They went to town! My youngest added lots of coconut to her’s and my oldest loaded up on the marshmallows.

Good thing this is a once in a while kind of thing. Holy sugar overload! But oh so worth it. Once I got the bar completely set up and let them see it, the looks on their faces were completely priceless.

Putting their chocolatey creations in Dixie® To Go Cups was the best idea! There’s literally no mess to clean up and no dishes to wash. Plus, the insulated layer helps with the temperature of the hot chocolate on their little hands.

Remember to get creative and have fun with your very own hot chocolate bar. Your kids will be so excited! Plus, you will get to reap the benefits as well. This is the perfect slumber party idea, work meeting, school party. or just because. Whatever the reason, don’t forget your Dixie® to go cups to complete your DIY Kid’s Hot Chocolate Toppings Bar!

Let’s crush this thing called parenting together, one great idea after the next. Teamwork!
