This Edible Peeps “Play” Dough recipe is a great way for your kids to have a fun time with sensory learning.
I have a ton of homemade dough recipes that I love to make for the girls. Some of them call for some sort of cooking, but most of them do not. And of course, those are my favorite. Whenever I have a lot of computer work, dishes, laundry or whatever a crazy day may bring, I love to whip up some sort of fun sensory dough to keep Josephine busy with her hands and mind and it’s usually with whatever awesome ingredients I have on hand. All it takes is a little bit of creativity and some random items found in the panty to make dough magic happen.
We had a few opened boxes of Peeps that were starting to get a little on the hard side so I decided to use them for a different purpose (other than shoving them in my face). With a few simple ingredients, you can make some Peeps “play” dough that you won’t have to worry about them eating it or not. This was a huge hit at our house.
This is what you will need:
- 3 peeps
- 1 tablespoons of coconut oil
- 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar
Yep, that’s it!
Edible Peeps “Play” Dough
Place your peeps and coconut oil in a microwavable bowl and microwave for 10 seconds.
Stir the 2 ingredients together until fully mixed and add the powdered sugar until the dough is completely smooth and no longer sticky. If needed, add a little bit more powdered sugar to keep dough from sticking. Just don’t add too much as it will make it very hard and unmanageable.
It will feel like a very soft dough and doesn’t stick to your hands at all. Double the recipe for an even bigger batch for multiple kids. This Peeps “play” dough smells amazing and won’t hurt your kids if they decide they need a quick snack. Josephine was able to use cookie cutters and other objects to mold and play with her dough. Just be sure to store it in a baggie or an airtight container to keep it from drying out.
