“While this article may come as a reminder that the Kia Cadenza still exists, Kia is banking on a complete re-design, new technology, and big boy luxury to attract luxe-loving families.”
The 2017 Kia Cadenza took the main stage at the New York International Auto Show in the presence of many of Kia executives, and was introduced as a revolutionary, sleek, and comfortable sedan, designed to punch above its class. Though, perhaps it’s always done that? I cant say for sure, as I’ve never driven a Cadenza, but some reputable sources have—and they absolutely praise it.
The 2017 model has grown and become smarter in just about every way possible. The body is primarily made up of high-strength steel, which not only makes it safer for its occupants, but also lighter and more fuel-efficient. Speaking of fuel-efficiency, the new Cadenza will be powered by a revised V6 engine from the current Cadenza, which already delivers an estimated 19 mpg city and 28 mpg on the highway.
The biggest change for 2017 is clearly the exterior design, as it now looks mature, more “premium” and outright fancy, which is a great thing, specially as Kia tries to overcome its “economy” brand image, and move into Toyota and Honda territory (or even past it).
Going back to the “punches above its class” comment, the Cadenza’s interior truly reflects that. With leather-wrapped everything, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system, and a minimalistic and functional center console, the Cadenza is aching to jump into the full-size luxury sedan segment and compete with the big boys.
The 2017 Kia Cadenza will roll out to dealerships later this year, and we should hopefully get behind the wheel shortly before that. Really looking forward to it!
See more of Kia!
