Leprechaun Cookies
I like to get creative when it come to making things for the girls’ class parties. It’s sorta my outlet so to speak. When I’ve had a stressful day, I bake. When I have way too much to do, I forget it all and bake. It always seems to make sense in my head at the time, but not so much after.
Anyway, these leprechaun cookies were super easy to make and your kids will love to help you. You could do all kinds of variations of these, I just wanted to use up stuff that we already had.
All you need is:
I have this multi pack of spring sprinkles that has cute flower shapes, circles, and some hearts. Always make what you have work. It doesn’t have to be these exact items.
Melted your candy melts in a microwave safe container in the microwave in 30 increments. Dip one end of the Nutter Butter in the green, going just about half way up.
Then dip the other end in the orange melts fro create a beard. Using a spoon, smear some up the sides as sideburns for your little leprechauns. Or a piping bag would also work out well. Lay them on a piece of wax paper long enough to let the chocolate harden.
When the chocolate has completely cooled and harden, place some of the green melting chocolates in a plastic sandwich bag and snip off the corner in order to pipe on a thick stripe for the brim of the hat creating some dimension.
I had the girls sorting through all of the bright colored flowers to pick out the green flower-shaped sprinkles to be dropped on the green chocolate stripe.
To create eyes we used some of the white circle sprinkles with a small drop of black food coloring for the eyes. We found that it was easier to use a toothpick to put the drop of black in the center. A small orange heart-shaped sprinkles turned upside down was the perfect compliment for the nose.
You can easily attach all of the sprinkles with a little drop of melted chocolate to secure them in place. That’s it!
