Make Your Own Carpet Freshener Blend

It’s super easy to make your own carpet Freshener. I am a sucker for a clean smelling house and making my own carpet freshener is one of my favorite ways to do so. I have kids, so therefor my carpets take a beating. I used to use the freshener you buy at the store until I actually turned it around to read the label. It’s filled with crap like Benzyl Benzoate, Sodium aluminosilicate, Sodium sulfate plus nasty perfumes and fragrances. No thank you! Plus, that stuff will cost you almost $5.00 a can. Pfft..

Here is a cheaper and much safer way to get the job done:

-1/2 cup baking soda
-1/2 cup borax
-30 drops tangerine
-20 drops of your favorite essential oils

Mix all of the ingredients well and set aside for at least 24 hours. Sprinkle on your carpet and let sit at least 15 minutes, then vacuum as usual. You will love the results!

If you or someone in your family is really sensitive to smells, you can use plain baking soda. It is just as effective in neutralizing the odors that live in your carpeting.
