How to Make Gluten-Free Cake Pops

Sep 23 by Leave a Comment

I love cake pops! It’s one of many guilty pleasures in my life. I wanted to make sure everyone gets to experience these yummy treats so I decided to try and make them gluten-free. So easy!

gluten free

1 box of gluten-free cake mix- flavor of your choice
1 can of Betty Crocker ready made frosting
1 bag of melting chocolate- color of your choice
1 bag of cake pop sticks
Wax paper
Cake pop holder or styrofoam block

This is what you do:

Bake cake according to directions on box. Super easy right?! Let it cool completely and then DESTROY it! Crumble it into a large bowl and add about 3/4 of the can of frosting.

cake pop dry

Mix well with a large spoon making a dough like texture.

Roll cake mixture into balls a little bit smaller than a golf ball and lay them out on a wax paper covered baking sheet. Place in the freezer for a few minutes until they are firm.

cake balls

While your cake balls are in the freezer place your melting chocolate in the microwave and heat for 30 second intervals. Make sure you stir well in-between to avoid burning. Should be smooth with no bumps.

cake pop stick

Dip a tip of the pop stick into the melted chocolate and insert into the center cake ball. Do this to all of the pops and place them back into the freezer. This bonds the cake pop to the stick.

Once the chocolate has hardened completely, dip the entire pop in the melted chocolate. Make sure the entire thing is covered. If you notice your chocolate is a little too thick or not smooth enough, you can add a few drops of oil to help.

Place in either cake pop holder or block to dry. To speed things up place in freezer to harden chocolate faster.

This is the basic idea of cake pops. From here the possibilities are endless! Keep life poppin’!
