How to Make Ice Cream Cake Pops

How to Make Ice Cream Cake Pops

Ok so here it is! A step by step guide to make Ice Cream Cake Pops!! Let me know if I missed anything 🙂 Here goes!

This is what you will need:

ingredients

1/4 bag white candy melts
1/4 bag pink candy melts
Ready made cake balls
6 sugar cones
Sprinkles

I cut large X shapes into the box to use as a cake pop stand. You can do it however you want. This is just easier for me

pop stand

Cut about 1-1 1/2 inches off the top of the sugar cone

cone cut

Do this to all 6. Should look like this-

cone

Warm the melted white chocolate in the microwave in 30 second intervals. Stir throughly until smooth. Be careful not to overheat. Drizzle a small amount of the melted chocolate into the cone

chocolate

Take one of the cake balls and shove it into the cone. Pack it down as far as you can, leaving about 1/4 of an inch at the top. Put a small amount of the melted chocolate again (works like glue) on the smashed cake and place a whole cake ball on top of that like this

cake

Do this to all of them and place in the freezer for the “glue” to set for 5 minutes

cones

Using a small spoon, drizzle the melted white chocolate over the top of the cake ball making sure it’s completely covered. It’s ok if it isn’t perfect. Ice cream is messy!

ice cream

Do this to all 6 and place them back in the freezer for 5 minutes to set the chocolate. While your pops are in the freezer, melt the pink candy melts just as you did the white. Remove your pops from the freezer and place a small amount of the pink chocolate on top of the white so it looks like they are layered. While the pink chocolate is still melted add the sprinkles right away. This keeps them intact. You will have to do one at a time so the chocolate doesn’t start to settle

sprinkles

To finalize your master piece you need a cherry! I mixed some red food coloring into the pink chocolate and added a small drop to the top. You can use a red candy if you would like. I didn’t have any and didn’t want to go get any LOL. Or you can just skip the cherry all together.

And that my friend is how you make Ice Cream Cake Pops!! Happy Popping!!

I’ve never had cake pops! I think my kids would love anything that combines cake and ice cream cones. One idea that I thought of – put ice cream inside the cone instead of chocolate and cake, just down in the bottom inch or so, then start the cakepop portion. Mmm.
