How to Make Store Bought Frosting Better and Go Further

Make Store Bought Frosting Better and Go Further

How to Make Store Bought Frosting Better and Go Further

Store bought cake mixes and tubs of frosting are so affordable that I often use them versus trying to bake totally from scratch. I know, I know… homemade is always better, but I am all about making life as easy as possible and this is the best way to save on time when baking in a hurry. You can alter just about any of them to your liking so why not? I won’t tell if you won’t!

I thought there just may be one or two of you out there who might be as disorganized and short on time (most of the time) as me and could benefit from this tip.

Money saving tip for store bought frosting:

To make your canned frosting go farther, place it in a large bowl and whip it with a mixer. In just a few short minutes your frosting with almost double in volume! Genius huh? As an added bonus you eat less calories in a serving. Score! You can always add any kind of ingredients to change up the taste as well. My favorite way to add a little bit of pizazz is to  add an 8-ounce package of cream cheese into a 16-ounce can of storebought vanilla frosting. It enhances the flavor, reduces the sweetness and increases the amount of frosting. Perfect for carrot cakes, red velvet cakes, spice cakes etc.

Here is my favorite Cupcake and Frosting Recipe!

Genius!! My husband’s fave kind of frosting is straight from a can. I’m going to have to try this. I assume it makes it easier to spread, too? I’m stopping by from our new SITS tribe! Have a great day!

Great idea! I love that it reduces calories and stretches the can of frosting as well.

Hi! I found this through pintrest just in time my vanilla cupcakes with chocolate frosting I made for the superbowl yesterday. I was in a hurry and used a box cake and canned frosting and with the genius idea to whip the frosting made the cupcakes disappear and had a request for more. I added about a tbsp or so of powdered sugar and it was yummy. Thanks so much!
