Makeup Tips for Busy Moms – Guest Post by Dani

As a busy mom of two, one being just four months old, I hardly have time to brush my hair….let alone try to make myself look presentable.  After almost three months of greasy hair, pajamas and no make-up, I decided that I should make a small effort to look reasonably decent. Partly because I went back to work, and partly because my seven year old told me I wasn’t allowed to walk him into class because he didn’t want his friends to see me “looking like that” (This from a kid who picks out the strangest outfits and doesn’t match half the time, but that’s a whole different story).

So for the past month, I drag myself out of bed and throw on some make-up, and I’ve realized that I don’t have the time to do what I used to. So I have come up with a few make-up tips and must haves for busy moms like myself.

Brighter Looking Eyes

How to get that bright eyed and bushy tailed look!  Well, I’m not so sure about the bushy tailed part but the bright eyed can be helped with my first tip, white eyeliner.  I love to use Younique’s Pristine Precision Pencil Eye Line and just apply it to the bottom lid and voila!!  I’m not sure how it works, but it makes your eyes look brighter, trust me.

Also taking a small amount of light/white colored eye shadow, I use Younique’s Moodstruck Minerals Pigment Powder  for all my eye shadow, and the color Curious for this trick. Just apply it to that area right next to your eye on the top outer part of you nose (I’m trying to think if this part even has a name…I’m sure it does, but you guys know what I’m talking about.) And again, I’m not sure how this helps but it does, something about the light coloring does wonders.

Coverage

I have heard that by the time babies are four months old they sleep through the night, or for longer periods of time…well not my baby!  My daughter wakes up every three hours still, like clockwork to nurse.  So I have had to learn how to cover up these bags that I’ve been sporting around from sleep deprivation.  I used to apply my concealer to just the dark areas under my eyes, but applying it like an upside down triangle gives better coverage and contributes to that bright eyed look.

And who has time for all those different steps of applying moisturizer, primer, concealer, foundation and powder when you are chasing one kid around to get dressed and the other is attached to you boob in the morning!?! Skip all that and try using a BB or CC cream. These already have moisturizer, SPF, and even contain an ingredient that helps fight pimples in them, all while providing a light coverage.  My personal favorite is Younique’s BB Flawless Complexion Enhancer it has amazing coverage and gives my face a gorgeous glow.

(My right eye has the triangle shape, as you can see it almost blend in unlike the dabbing that I did on the other side. The coverage is much better.)

Mom Must-Haves

I recently discover Younique’s product line and instantly fell IN LOVE! I mean who could resist products that are naturally based, 100% cruelty and paraben free in a world full of cosmetics made of chemicals.  The company is all about empowering women, and even donates a portion of the profits to a foundation that helps sexually abused women, so you can feel good about buying something for yourself and contributing to such a great cause. Plus they all look and feel great on, I have not tried a product that I don’t love yet.  Some of my MoM Must-Haves include;Moodstruck Precision Pencil Eye Liner , Moodstruck 3D fiber lashes, and Shine makeup remover wipes.  The eyeliner is 100% smudge proof and water proof.  It does not move throughout the day, because really who has time to keep checking to make sure you don’t have raccoon eyes. The Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes ….I don’t think I have to say much about them they speak for themselves. The way they make every girl look like they have long gorgeous and thick eyelashes…it is amazing.  The mascara is also waterproof, both products wash off easily with soap and water.

Which leads me to my next must have product, Younique’s Shine Makeup Remover Cloths .  These amazing cloths will remove all make up (even the waterproof mascara and eyeliner) while making your skin feel fabulous.  I personally do not have time to sit around and wash my face at night; these come in handy as I can use them while doing other things. ***Savings tip: you do not need a full cloth so you could tear them in half and save***
