Montar by Winner Gear – Car Mount test

Jun 8 by 1 Comment

71JThtUJQpL._SL1500_How many times have you dropped your phone while looking up directions on how to get to a specific place, or even worse, how close have you been to a fender bender because you looked down at the phone in your cup holder? Yet the reluctance of using an ugly and clumsy car mount keeps enabling those bad behaviors behind the wheel.

That’s why Winner Gear designed the Montar car mount. Not only does the Montar look great, but it has no silly levers, knobs or even confusing suction systems. It’s polished black plastic and red rubber makes it sleek, yet elegant. So wether you are cruising in a Corvette or a Mercedes S-Class, it’s the only way to go.

I was excited to receive my Montar car mount as I spend a lot of time behind the wheel, and I know first hand how dangerous it can be to take your eyes of the road — even if it is for a brief second. I’ve used this dash mount in my reviews of the Ford Expedition, Honda Civic, Toyota Sienna and Volkswagen Beetle, and so far the adhesive on the suction cup still works perfect, as it did on day one.

Installing the Montar is a one handed operation and doesn’t require any special tricks or even to read the instructions. Although I did try to install it on the grainy dash of the Honda Civic, and even with the provided 3M adhesive pad, it did not stick. Smooth surfaces and windshields work excellent, and will hold my iPhone 6 and even iPhone 6 Plus like a champ.

Sure $29.99 isn’t cheap for a car mount, specially when you can find something on Amazon for $2.99 (probably), but if you are looking to buy quality, reliability and what most likely will be the last car mount you buy, then go with the Montar by Winner Gear.

Disclaimer: I received this product at no cost so I can share my findings with you. I’ve also waited over 30 days since I first installed the mount in order to test it’s durability while being swapped from one car to another. If something were to break or go wrong, it already would’ve by now.
