If you’re anything like us, you’re probably always running out of space. Let me show you how to make this no-sew fabric covered diaper box – perfect for the nursery!
Us Moms know how quickly expenses can add up, especially when it comes to our kids. I mean, how can something so small need so much stuff? Diapers, wipes, bottles, bouncers. The list could truly go on forever. Oh, and don’t forget the nursery. We want nothing but the best for our littles.
But how do we give it to them without breaking the bank? By getting the best deals on diapers and DIY-ing all the things! I’m going to show you how to do both. Let’s start with making super cute, yet functional storage for your child’s nursery or bedroom. Or any room for that matter.
This cardboard diaper box turned into a beautiful fabric basket is the perfect DIY for adding storage without busting the budget. And besides, you most likely need to buy diapers anyway so why not upcycle the box they come in? I made this no-sew fabric covered basket in less than 30 mins and for just $5.00. If you were to decent storage baskets this size they will cost you three times as much. Plus, you can customize them to match any decor.
Don’t have a diaper box laying around? I can help with that! Let’s have a quick chat about the deal that’s happening right now at Sam’s Club:

Now that we have our Huggies diaper boxes, let’s get this party started. Here’s your step by step guide for making your very own no-sew fabric covered basket.
Supplies needed:
- 1 Huggies diaper/wipes box
- Your favorite fabric (28″ x 44″ is what I used)
- 1 roll of thick twine
- Hot glue
- Decorative ribbon (optional)
- Dark acrylic paint
Cut the tabs off of your cardboard diaper box. I cleaned mine up a bit after this picture.
Paint your Huggies diaper box with a dark-colored acrylic paint just in case your twine isn’t wrapped as tightly around as you would like. This prevents any bright colors from showing thru. This doesn’t have to be fully covered.
Once the paint is completely dry, begin wrapping twine around your box one layer at a time. Putting a thin line of hot glue and quickly pushing the twine down, while rotating the box worked best for me.
Keep going!
Once you get closer to the top, be sure to leave 2-3 inches of space so you can fold the inside fabric out, creating a nice border.
Once you have completely wrapped your Huggies Diaper box in twine, begin lining the inside with your fabric. I chose a navy blue and white striped cotton fabric. It looks nice with the contrast of the twine.
Once the sides are lined, you can cover the seams with a piece of fabric for the bottom. Tuck tightly with hot glue in the corners and along the edges.
Once your fabric is secured with hot glue, add a ribbon or accent to the outside edge of fabric covering any imperfections.
Secure ribbon with hot glue near a corner.
Viola! You’re done. Now your nursery, toy room, bathroom, or anywhere else you need added storage, is now complete with this no-sew fabric covered diaper box.
So much space!
You could easily hang your new no-sew fabric covered diaper box on the wall or set on a dresser or changing table. The possibilities are endless. Head over to Sams.com to grab your new membership so you can stock-pile Huggies Diapers and make your very own no-sew fabric covered cardboard basket.
