NOT a protest AGAINST, but a march FOR

NOT a protest AGAINST, but a march FOR

What many don’t seem to get is that it wasn’t a protest AGAINST, but a march FOR: women’s rights, women’s health, healthcare for everyone, immigrant’s rights, LGBGT rights, the future of our world, and yes, HUMAN rights!! This is about moving forward and not backward.

Marching today was so much more than “women fighting for their right to have an abortion”. I became a Mom at 17. My 6 month old daughter was sitting in the audience of my high school graduation. I COULD have had an abortion, but I chose life and the choice was mine to make. Just as the father had the choice to stay or go. Guess what, he made the wrong one. He still had a choice.

Marching today was so much more than a man saying “mean things”. Yes, Trump has said some pretty terrible things. I’m sure most of us have. But sexual assault is never ok. Thinking women are just pretty faces – never ok.

I took my girls downtown to show them we stand up for what we believe in. We believe in making the right choices, whatever those might be. We believe in equality for everyone. We believe in giving everyone a fair, fighting chance, even immigrants. For those who say “yes, but it needs to be done the right way” do you even know what that means? Have you had to go through that process yourself? Thankfully, one of your ancestors completed that process so you didn’t have to. They fought that fight so you wouldn’t have to. This is AMERICA! And unless you are 100% Native American you come from a family of immigrants. My 5 year old has to deal with this ignorance quite often due to ethnicity. I’ve actually been asked several times if she was adopted or if it was hard getting her into the country. Sickening!

I am not gay but I love people who are. Since when should the government tell us who we can love? Since when did the church and state become one?

So for all of the people who refused to march today because you are closed minded enough to think this was about killing babies, it’s time to step out of the safe bubble you live in and fight. This is much bigger than Trump. Today, we were simply borrowing the signs from our grandmas.

Celebrating the New Year in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

We drive the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 to the Great White North, where we say goodbye to a rather tumultuous 2020. 2020 has been a year for most of us, huh? So happy to get rid of it and here’s to hoping 2021 is better in every way! Of course, we say this with the […]

Great Smoky Mountains National Park: Family Road Trip In the 2021 Chevy Tahoe

A large and rugged country requires a large and rugged vehicle. With COVID-19 shutting down most things around us or at least applying rigorous restrictions to help slow the spread of the virus, a lot of activities we would normally do with our family are off the table. Luckily, we’ve always loved family road trips, […]

Explore Chicago: The Four Seasons With Kids

We head to the Windy City in the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime Once upon a time, we could get away as a couple whenever we wanted wherever we wanted. Early mornings, late nights, breakfast in bed, shows, clubs, parties—you name it, we enjoyed it. But for a while now, we’ve had to play by a […]

2020 Hyundai Sonata: A Tech-Packed, Versatile Sedan

Yes, it can drive forward and backward without a driver, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg of this stylish sedan. Sedans are dying a slow death. No, it’s not just me being negative, but a factual representation of the automotive industry, which in turn, is a direct reflection of customer’s buying habits. People […]
