Race Car Valentine Craft & Gift Idea

Feb 5 by 14 Comments

You-make-my-heart-race

Since we are a racing family, it’s only natural we do some sort of car craft for Valentine’s Day. This is also a super cute idea to do on a canvas for a kid’s room or as a gift idea.

I just might actually try it out on a canvas next to make an awesome Father’s Day gift. Shh… don’t tell!

Race Car Valentine Craft

What you will need:

– Paint
– Construction Paper of any color
– Glue Stick
– Glitter Glue
– Markers
– Poster paint (or any washable paint)
– Paint brush
– Your little’s feet

Kids love to get messy! Josephine was super excited when she knew we were going to cover her foot in paint. It did take us a few times to get the print just right, so be prepared with a few pieces of paper.

Choose a color for the “race car” and paint your child’s foot, covering it completely. While your favorite foot print is drying, use different colored construction paper to cut out the shapes you need for your race car.

I cut out 2 black circles, 2 smaller white circles (for inside of the tires), a helmet and a wing. You can customize your car any way that you would like.

The picture above are the pieces my oldest daughter used, but you get the idea.

Once your for print is dry, cut around it making it into the shape of a race car body. Glue it in the center of another piece of construction paper. Using glitter glue, make a racing strip in the middle towards the bottom.

Start gluing on the rest of your pre-cut pieces and watch your race car come to life! I really wanted to write the words “You make my heart race” but since I am on the computer typing so much, my penmanship could use a little work… So I printed mine instead. Don’t judge!

This would be super cute in a frame as well! You can pick one up for cheap at the dollar store!
