“I received a set of Cooper Tires to facilitate this review. My story, opinion, and everything else I ramble on about is completely mine.”
Road Tripping With Cooper Tires
“Summer road trips are as iconic as Christmas trees in the winter. The days are longer, the weather is warmer and with the kids out of school, it’s the perfect time to pack up the car, hit the road, and discover a new destination!”
Every summer we voluntarily endure the pain that can be family road trips, and set off to find a destination that pleases the kids as well as the adults. Sometimes it’s relatively close to home, perhaps a lake vacation in Indiana, a trip to Chicago, etc. Sometimes it’s the complete opposite, a road trip to Canada like we did two years ago, or even a cross-country drive to visit family in Texas. Regardless of the destination, it’s always a haul and it’s always fun.
This year we decided to visit multiple destinations instead of spending all of our time in one place. The planning process started, then making all the right calls and emails, do the bookings and the last one—figure out transportation. As you know, we generate over 45 vehicle reviews every year, so needless to say, a press car of some sort is usually available for our trips, but this time the mileage was too much, the time too long, and we opted for taking our own vehicle instead of a loaner. But then…
Less than a month before we set off on our trip, I walked out to get into our Honda Civic only to find one of the tires completely flat. What! I had the tire looked at, and it turned out to have a slow leak. Also, being the overly apprehensive car-guy that I am, I knew that the tires would need replacing within six months or less. I had a decision to make. Fix the leak on worn out tires, or suck it up and buy all-new ones. Given the upcoming road trip, I knew there was only one answer.
That brings me to my next point. Shopping for tires. Not fun… at all. Shopping for tires is like shopping for the right dentist. You need a reliable and reputable dentist, but hopefully one that won’t cost you a whole arm and a leg. I started browsing around, and I quickly realized that the biggest problem was finding a quality tire at an affordable price. But, how do you even know what a quality tire is? Is it the brand name, is it the price, what dictates how safe your family will actually be on the road?
That’s where Cooper Tires comes in. Cooper Tires is an American founded tire company that specializes in building, designing, manufacturing and selling tires, but not just any tires—quality tiers. In fact, Cooper Tires is one of the longest-standing and most reputable American tire and rubber companies in the country. Also, Cooper Tires takes pride in their slogan, which is “We Make Tires for People… Not Just Cars.”
After browsing their ample catalog of all-season, performance and winter tires, I opted for the CS5 Ultra Touring tires. The CS5 Ultra Touring provides real performance in all sorts of conditions for everyday drivers. As with all of their tires, the CS5 is crafted with leading technology and innovations. As if that weren’t enough, the CS5 Ultra Touring offers a Premium Limited Warranty, a Free 45 day road test, and up to a 60,000 mile tread wear protection!
Not too long after that, there was a set of tires at my door step, which I quickly took to the shop and had them installed on our Civic. With just a few days to go, our family-mobile was ready to hit the road! More importantly, we were going to do so with reliable tires that would certainly keep our family much safer than our original tires, or any other discount or “cheap” tire I could come across on the internet or tire shop, and trust me, there are many of them.
Once the car was packed up, it was time to hit the road and head toward our first destination. I was super pleased with just how smooth and quiet my Civic’s ride was, it was almost as if I were driving a new car! All in all, we would visit a big city, a rural town, the beach, cross the Mississippi, and spend many more hours behind the wheel than I’d desire to, but I knew I could do so with confidence thanks to my new and shiny rubber from Cooper tires.
After 1,500 miles, many memories, and many dollars spent, our family was happy, tired and grateful that we were able to reward ourselves with another adventure after a year of hard work. Oh, and we even saw a super cool Cooper Tires semi truck on the road, the kids loved the graphics!
Remember, your tires are more than just rubber, they are the one element that everything else relies on (literally), so don’t gamble with your family’s safety—choose Cooper Tires.
