Adventures of Teenage Skincare

I’m pretty sure that we could all agree that the time in our life where we felt the least confident was our teenage years. Drama, friends, school, and worst of all – skin. I remember staring myself down in the bathroom on the daily, using my hand to cover up my blemishes on my face when I was talking to people, and going down the skincare aisle Every. Single. Time. I would go to Target with my mom, scouring it for something that would work. I had basically tried everything. I remember always heading straight for Aveeno, Clean & Clear, or Neutrogena because, let’s be real – raise your hand if you tried splashing water on your face from the sink like those girls did in the commercials? Get it up there. We all did it.

Missi & Nevaeh

So it basically sucks that I have to pass bad skin down to my daughter. Because she totally doesn’t deserve that. Either way, I think instilling a habit of skincare into my daughter (and all of our daughters) is so important. At this time in their lives, they really need us to be a pillar of confidence for them. Because it’s February, of course I wanted to try a new routine with Nevaeh. And I think maybe you guys could try it too. Spend some time with her at night before she goes to bed. Turn it into a mini-spa night, every night. Stand in front of the mirror with her, washing, cleansing, moisturizing, sharing things about your days, gossiping, laughing, or just having some quiet time together. Soon you’ll both find that that time together is really valuable. You can use it to secretly bond. Because…teenagers. Right?

Shopping at Target

But first, you’ll need to head to Target (don’t act like you don’t already go there 20 times a month anyway) and help her pick out some great products that meet her specific needs. Does she have dry or oily skin? Acne? Let her take her time. Don’t forget to get some things for yourself too, Mama. This is a package deal. We’re all in this together. And she’s not going to buy it, if you’re not showing her that it’s important to you as well. Through the end of March, Target is offering some really freaking amazing deals on Aveeno, Clean & Clear, and Neutrogena products. You can use one of my all-time favorite life saving apps, Cartwheel, to save 5% on both Aveeno and Clean & Clear products, OR you can buy 3 Neutrogena products and get a free $5 Target gift card. Ummm…heck yes! Not only will yours AND your daughters skin look and feel great, but you’ll also get to save some good money too – and you know that’s what we’re all about here at Life is Poppin’.

We took full advantage of this deal! In our basket we had Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Concealer, Aveeno Positively Radiant® Overnight Hydrating Facial, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Shine and Acne Triple Clear™ Bubble Foam Face Cleanser for Nevaeh.

Clean & Clear

The Acne Triple Clear™ Bubble Foam Face Cleanser is tough on your pimples but soft on your skin. The bubble foam wash, with its refreshing aloe and mint acne-fighting formula, contains salicylic acid, a powerful acne fighting medicine

Clean and clear face wash

Directions
Wet Face. Turn bottle upside down and squeeze a golf ball amount of foam into hand. Apply to face and massage gently, avoiding eye area. Rinse thoroughly.

If you have oily skin or breakouts and pimples use the oil-free bubble foam every day. From the first wash your skin will look and feel cleaner, refreshed and happy.

Clean & clear

Taking care of our skin has been important to all of us as women for, well…forever. And it’s important to me to help my daughter gain confidence by taking care of her skin as well. Not to mention the importance of getting that alone time with her, to really make her feel special – because we all know that when they get to be that age, they’re way too cool for us. In a world where people are constantly tearing each other down, it’s crucial that we build our daughters up so that they can be unbreakable.

Last but not least, her shameless selfie with beautifully hydrated skin:

Your daughter is simply beautiful! I am sure she hears that from you, but you are her mama so of course you would say so. Please tell her that I said so too! It is never too early to start a great skin care routine. I got my daughter on one when she was a teen and she has great skin now. You are a great mom!

She looks absolutely gorgeous. I think her skin looks flawless. I still got acne at an age of 25 and it is so embarrassing. I am still looking for good products for that after trying so much different products with no results. Thank you so much for the recommendation here.

My son could use this. He’s 14 and his skin does break out. Only he obviously wouldn’t get makeup but just the other Neutrogena products.
