St. Patty’s Day Cake Pops Tutorial

Mar 6 by 24 Comments

st pattys day pops

With St. Patrick’s Day approaching quickly, here is a fun activity to help you celebrate. These fun cake pops are easy enough to make them for a class party, a social gathering or just because. You can even color the inside green if wanted. So many fun things are possible with cake pops. Here is a quick tutorial on how to whip these bad boys up in a jiffy:

This is what you will need

  • Ready made cake pop balls (find the recipe here)
  • Cake pop sticks
  • Green melting chocolate
  • Yellow melting chocolate
  • Black melting chocolate
  • Gold sprinkles (I found mine at Walmart in the baking isle)
  • Wax paper
  • Cake pop stand or styrofoam to hold cake pops

This is how it’s done

Melt your black chocolate in the microwave for 30 second intervals stirring well, until fully melted. Dip cake pop until it’s fully covered and tap of any extras.

Lay the dipped cake pop flat on a wax paper covered baking tray. This is what will make the flat surface for your gold flakes

Place your tray in the freezer for about 5 minutes or until the chocolate has hardened. While those are in the freezer you can dip your yellow and green pops if wanted. I chose to leave my green pops plain and attempt to draw little clovers on my yellow pops.

A super easy way to make the clovers is by adding a small amount of green chocolate to a baggie and cutting the corner off making a piping bag. Easy peasy!

Swap out the green & yellow pops in the freezer and take out your pots. With a leftover pop stick spread a small amount of black chocolate on the flat surface and sprinkle the gold flakes on the melted chocolate. This will make them stick.

You can make a handle or decorate the rest of your pot as desired. And that is that! Super easy and they look like you spent all day making them. Your secret is safe with me! Enjoy 🙂
