Ways to Give Back Now & Forever

Giving back during the holidays and giving back on any other day of the year should be the same: a warm smile, a “please” or a “thank you,” and maybe a nice hug. Instead of laying on your horn in traffic or pushing your way to the front of a line, take the time to make others’ days a bit happier and you’ll find you’ve given yourself the gift of happiness, too. It’s all about the little things in life and somehow they always seem to make the greatest impact.

During the holiday rush, it’s easy to get caught up in (and stressed-out over) the buying and giving of expensive gifts to family, friends and co-workers. But what if this year could be different. What if everyone came together to “give back” to your local community, a charity or someone in need?

shopping

This year, it was my pleasure to team up with Delta Faucet Nook to help make a few Mother’s and their children’s holiday season just a little bit brighter. They provided us with a gift card and we hit the stores running! One of the awesome things about living in Indy is the shopping. I am pretty sure there is a mall on every corner.

To improve shopping experiences for moms, Delta has transformed the family restrooms at the Fashion Mall at Keystone Crossing with new Delta Faucet Nursing Nooks. Offering busy moms a chance to experience a public bathroom with a little peace, the nook is an oasis complete with our Touch2O Technology and hands-free toilets to make life easier when your hands are full. Sounds dreamy, right?

The Julian Center

I looked around the internet for a charity that we could donate to that we felt was near and dear to our hearts. Of course we would love to give to all of them, but since that isn’t exactly feasible we chose The Julian Center.

“Since 1975, The Julian Center has been supporting victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other life crises.  Our mission is to provide the services victims need to recover and build a life absent of abuse.  Those services include counseling, safe shelter, case management, advocacy, education, transitional housing, and affordable housing.  Through outreach and consultation, we also seek to educate the community about the issue of domestic violence and its impact on all our lives.  Our programs and services are designed to contribute to a significant reduction in the incidence of domestic violence and sexual assault, to support survivors in healing, and to help break the intergenerational cycle of abuse.

The Julian Center is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the country and has been nationally recognized as a model for communities seeking to improve their responses to domestic violence.  We have a history of finding innovative ways to help victims choose safety.”

The girls had such a great time picking out toys, clothes, coloring books, bedding, and so many other great items that most of us take for granted. We all know how frugal I am, so of course we looked for all of the greatest deals to help our budget go that much further. Shopping for the necessities and finding awesome deals we were able to save $374.86.

Domestic violence can happen to anyone.  It doesn’t matter who you are or where you live.  It can be your neighbor, your mother, your daughter, a co-worker, or a friend. Know the signs and please always always always ask for help.

This was such a humbling experience for not only myself, but for the girls as well. I fell blessed that we were able to be apart of such an amazing campaign and this will be a tradition for our family until the end of time. Not only during the holiday season, but we have made a promise to each other to help out and give back whenever possible.

Giving back means so much more than donating. We need to teach our children how to create a little holiday magic and here are a few ways to make it happen:

Send holiday cards to those serving in the military.

  • Help furry friends by making homemade dog biscuits or toys for shelter dogs.
  • Help kids connect with elderly friends or relatives who live alone.
  • Help a child rediscover the lost art of letter writing.
  • Teach your child the importance of earning and giving.
  • Help furry friends by making homemade dog biscuits or toys for shelter dogs.
  • Provide a hands-on experience in fighting hunger and helping other kids.

There really are infinite ways we can all give back. We all have needed help in one way or another rather it be financially, mentally, physically or whatever it may be. Remember those who have helped you in your time of need and be sure to let them know how much they are appreciated. It’s always better to give than to receive, right?

If you could use a little bit of retail therapy you are in luck! Enter for a chance to win Delta products or a $1,000 Simon Mall Gift Card at deltafaucetformoms.com.

We drive the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 to the Great White North, where we say goodbye to a rather tumultuous 2020. 2020 has been a year for most of us, huh? So happy to get rid of it and here’s to hoping 2021 is better in every way! Of course, we say this with the […]

Great Smoky Mountains National Park: Family Road Trip In the 2021 Chevy Tahoe

A large and rugged country requires a large and rugged vehicle. Luckily, we’ve always loved family road trips, […]

We head to the Windy City in the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime Once upon a time, we could get away as a couple whenever we wanted wherever we wanted. Early mornings, late nights, breakfast in bed, shows, clubs, parties—you name it, we enjoyed it. But for a while now, we’ve had to play by a […]

Yes, it can drive forward and backward without a driver, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg of this stylish sedan. Sedans are dying a slow death.
