After 12 hours, 750 miles, and two sugar-free Red Bulls, we’ve made it to New York City! The 2015 Sedona that Kia kindly allowed us to have for our trip was a huge blast to drive. The front and second row seats made us feel like VIP’s in an fancy airline first-class cabin, and “Smart Cruise Control” made dealing with traffic a total breeze.
We’ve already kicked-off our jammed packed week by heading out to Central Park, Times Square and eating some delicious street Halal. And we did all that after driving into town, so we all instantly passed out when we got back to our condo.
Here are a few activities we have planned for our week, along with the awesome companies and vendors that allowed us to make this happen. Check them out!
The New York Auto International Show, or commonly referred to as NYIAS, runs from Friday April 3, until Sunday the 12th. If you are in town and want to check out the hottest cars in the market, along with some NYIAS exclusives, then head over to the Jacob Javits Convention Center!
We had the chance to take our girls in the awesome “Statue by Night” tour, but the tour covers so much more than just the Statue of Liberty! It’s basically an entire tour of the New York and New Jersey highlights. We learned a lot about New York history, and also some neat facts. Did you know that a big chunk of south Manhattan was built on the landfill from the initial construction of the original Twin Towers (WTC) back in the late 50’s? That area is now known as Battery Park.
Top of The Rock, Rockeller Plaza
We’ve been to the Empire State Building, we’ve been to the CN Tower in Toronto, and even the Stratosphere in Vegas. But the Top of the Rock viewing deck at the Rockefeller building offers some stunning views. If you look north you can see the enormous, and sprawling Central Park, and if you look south you can see the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty and even the brand-spanking new World Trade Center One building.
Central Park
There are few things more special than taking a stroll around Central Park with your family. There is something special in the air that makes it so enjoyable, maybe all the Hollywood movies that have been filmed there, or maybe because it’s the most green you’ll see in the entire island. Whatever it is, it’s a must!
Times Square
I know most locals would disagree, but Times Square IS New York City. It’s the face of the city that most people around the world see every December 31st at Midnight. It’s the glare of the big screens, and the costumed cartoon and animated movie characters that walk around demanding tips just because your kid looked at them!
We have a lot more cool places and things to do for the rest of our stay, so make sure to stay tuned!
